This goes hand-in-hand with the re-birth of E3, but the E For All Expo, short lived as it was, has been scrapped for good. The new E3, which was just revealed officially by the ESA, is going to take its place, of course. We just wanted to confirm this for our readers, they will now have to find a new expo open to the public.

Contrary to yesterday's rumors, the new E3 will not be open to the public. This is good news for industry people like us who actually have to work the convention, frankly. On June 2-4, 2009, the new E3 will see the number of industry professional invited "greatly expanded," and the changes will ensure the Expo makes a glorious comeback."The video game business will be twice as big in 2009 as it was in 2006 when we had the last real E3 Expo - so get ready for some fireworks!" said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. "The changes made will ensure that the 2009 E3 Expo conveys the best of what makes us proud as entertainment leaders."

In a move that is certain to cause a huge controversy, E3 2009 will be open to the public. Not only that, but the attendee list will be capped at 40,000 people. This means you better register day 1, or else. Held at the L.A. Convention Center, of course, the doors will open on June 2nd to media and industry, and on Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th, the show floor will be open to the public. the ESA is set to cap the attendance at only 40k for 2009, a far cry from the almost 80,000 of E3 2005. We will see how this one turns out.

The Leipzig Games Convention was a great success this year, according to CEO Wolfgang Marzin. The attendance was at a record 38,000 people. The main complaint is the lack of routes, especially by air, to the Leipzig area. CEO Marzin says that the group's GC operations will expand to North America soon. "The concept is flexible and the network of the global games industry permits us to be active at different locations."Great news, all around!
